MIU Facilities
Maharishi International University (MIU) distinguishes itself with an exceptional range of athletic facilities, uniquely designed to support a holistic approach to health and fitness. At the heart of these facilities is the Grace Ananda Recreation Center [see #7 below], a vast 60,000 square-foot space equipped with diverse amenities to suit various sports and fitness activities. Among its standout features are the indoor tennis courts, a rarity in most college campuses. These courts provide a significant advantage, enabling year-round play regardless of weather conditions, which is especially beneficial for the tennis team’s training and competitions.
The Recreation Center includes facilities for pickleball, volleyball, and basketball with full-length courts available for each sport. Additionally, the center houses a fitness area complete with modern weight-lifting equipment and a small rock climbing wall, catering to a wide array of fitness preferences and skill levels.
Outside the indoor complex, MIU’s athletic infrastructure extends to a recently remodelled outdoor swimming pool [see 28 below], a large soccer practice field [35], and more outdoor tennis courts [25}. The proximity of these outdoor courts to the Recreation Center, just a half block away, allows for easy access, facilitating both spontaneous games and structured team practices. The campus also features extensive walking paths that weave through scenic surroundings, promoting an active and engaged community lifestyle.
Further enhancing the athletic and wellness facilities, the Argiro Student Center [1] houses our (mostly organic) dining hall and a yoga and dance studio. Here, students can participate in a variety of classes offered at no additional cost, emphasizing MIU’s commitment to the physical and mental well-being of its students. This comprehensive network of facilities not only supports physical health but also fosters a vibrant, energetic, and cohesive student community.
