Coach Luke Jaicks

MIU Athletic Director and Flag Football Coach

About Luke

Luke Jaicks began his football journey as a player in NCAA Division I FCS at Southern Utah University before transitioning to a highly successful coaching career. He served as a football coach at Scottsdale College, Southwestern Oklahoma State, Missouri Valley College, and Brevard College, breaking numerous records and elevating each program he touched. At Brevard College, Luke redefined the program’s legacy, shattering 67-year-old records in the USA South Conference and achieving unprecedented success.

In 2019, Luke led a transformative defense that allowed just 10.3 points per game, far below the NCAA average of 26.8. His unit gave up zero touchdowns in five of ten games, including an extraordinary streak of four consecutive shutouts during a grueling conference stretch. This remarkable performance earned his defense the #1 ranking across all NCAA divisions out of 524 schools. Over the next two seasons, his defenses continued their dominance, earning national rankings of #4 and #8.

Luke also showcased his talent for player development. At Brevard, he transitioned Joc Pleadger—originally a 4th-string running back—into a standout cornerback during preseason training camp when two key starters were sidelined. Joc went on to become the school’s only All-American in its 42-year football history. Luke also coached three nominees for the prestigious “Cliff Harris Award,” recognizing the best small-college football player: Joc Pleadger, Dante Anderson, and Steffon Canady—all personally recruited by Luke.

As Brevard College’s Recruiting Coordinator, Luke played a pivotal role in the program’s turnaround, expanding the roster from zero to 142 student-athletes in just three years and generating a significant influx of revenue and talent.

Luke’s passion for player development and innovation in athletics inspired his return to Maharishi International University (MIU). (see quote below).

Today, Luke serves as the Athletic Director and Women’s Flag Football Coach at MIU, continuing to shape lives, innovate, and build successful programs.

“MIU was the best thing that ever happened to me as a student earning my second degree… The community and the university’s core mission of happiness and truth make it the best university in the world. Meditation made me a better coach—I could see and sense things others couldn’t. I know it will have the same impact on our athletes. This is the next evolution of sports, and MIU is leading the way with these technologies. It’s an easy sell when discussing MIU and meditation with potential recruits.”
