Coach Eric Toub
MIU Associate Tennis Coach
About Eric
The Maharishi International University (MIU) tennis program is thrilled to introduce Eric Toub, who brings a wealth of experience and a passion for both tennis and personal development to the new team. A former member of the University of Southern California (USC) Men’s Tennis Team, Eric was part of one of the nation’s top collegiate programs, consistently ranked in the top ten during his time there. At USC he trained alongside some of the best collegiate players in the country. At the peak of his collegiate career, his UTR (Universal Tennis Rating) was an impressive 12.5.
Eric began his tennis journey at just three years old and pursued it with increasing intensity as he grew older. At 14, he made the bold decision to move to Florida and train at a prestigious tennis academy, fully committing to his dream of competing at the highest levels. By his sophomore and junior years in high school, he had attracted attention from high-level college programs across the country. His decision to walk on at USC was a leap of faith, as the program was highly selective. Yet, legendary coach Peter Smith saw potential in him and gave him the chance to join the team, where he honed his skills and developed a deep understanding of the game.
Now, as MIU’s tennis program transitions from a club team to a full varsity sport, Eric is excited to bring his experience and insights to the court. “I’ve been fortunate to learn from some of the best tennis coaches in the world,” he says. “Thanks to their mentorship and my family’s unwavering support, I have so much to share with anyone looking to improve their game. I look forward to not just helping players grow but also enjoying the camaraderie and friendships that tennis fosters.”
In addition to bringing perspectives from competing as a Division I athlete at an elite tennis school, Eric also provides a hitting partner experience that will challenge and inspire top players from across the globe.
Beyond tennis, Eric has found a profound connection with the Fairfield community and the practice of Transcendental Meditation (TM). “The humility, values, and commitment to peace and wisdom I’ve experienced here make this town truly unique,” he reflects. His introduction to TM, led by Guenael Boucher in Switzerland, left a lasting impact. “That one-hour session was more valuable to me than four years in the classroom at USC,” he notes.
As MIU’s associate tennis coach, Eric aims to not only develop skilled athletes but also foster an environment where players can grow mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
“I believe tennis is not just about winning matches—it’s about building character, finding joy in the game, and connecting with others. I can’t wait to start this journey with the MIU team,” he shares.
With his dedication, expertise, and holistic approach, Eric Toub is set to be a cornerstone of MIU’s emerging tennis program.
